The United Arab Emirates Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan Foundation for Humanitarian Work handed over 11 rehabilitated hospitals to local authorities in Shabwa Governorate.
The hospital have undergone full infrastructure upgrades and equipped with modern medical devices, ambulances, and essential supplies.
Local officials estimated the total cost of the project at 3.7 million US dollars. Local communities have welcomed the move, calling for sustained international engagement to ensure the long-term sustainability of health services.
The handover ceremony was attended by Shabwa Governor Awad bin Al-Wazir. A spokesperson from the governorate’s health office said:” This initiative is a lifeline for thousands of families across Shabwa,”adding that the upgraded facilities will significantly improve emergency response, maternal care, and chronic disease management in rural and remote areas.”
The UAE’s support comes amid growing humanitarian needs in Yemen, where years of conflict have severely damaged public services and left millions without access to adequate healthcare.
