Saudi Arabia has transferred $90 million to support Yemen’s struggling economy and humanitarian response, according to Reuters.

The amount, to be channeled through the Saudi Development and Reconstruction Program for Yemen (SDRPY) and the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSrelief), is part of Saudi financial Aid of $368 million announced  last September to support Yemen’s central bank and stabilize the national currency.

Saudi officials emphasized that the assistance reflects Riyadh’s “strategic and humanitarian responsibility” toward Yemen, where more than 21 million people remain in need of aid, and over 4 million are internally displaced.

The announcement comes amid renewed diplomatic efforts to revive peace talks between Yemen’s internationally recognized government and the Houthi rebels.
